Integrated summary: Security and Risk Management
Begin a security decision with professional duty, a particular asset and a plausible consequence. Distinguish confidentiality, integrity, availability, authenticity and nonrepudiation rather than treating them as one slogan. A shared account weakens attribution; a manager's request does not justify destroying incident evidence. Governance identifies who sets risk limits, who explains options and who may accept residual business harm. Operating a control does not automatically confer risk-acceptance authority. Policy gives direction, a standard makes the requirement testable, and a procedure explains execution. For contractual notice, separate alert, confirmation and the actual defined trigger; do not import another jurisdiction's deadline. Continuity measures the user's complete service and dependencies: a one-hour application recovery is insufficient if identity takes six hours. RTO bounds return time and RPO bounds data loss; both require tests. Identity lifecycle removes old-role privilege and checks tokens and sessions, while supplier analysis follows device origin, updates, versioned components and supply chain. When service recovery exceeds a limit, record the test, options, decision owner and review date; do not edit the target to fit the result.
