About the program

The program shows how a business goal becomes a marketing objective, audience, message, channel mix, content plan and measurable learning cycle. It starts with relatively durable concepts—value, audience, positioning and the funnel—then moves through SEO, owned presence and paid media, and finishes with measurement, attribution, experiments and responsible integrated campaigns. It requires no advanced prior experience and does not treat one platform’s settings as the curriculum.

Practical relevance

You will work through country-neutral fictional cases: define an audience, shape a value proposition, choose channels, calculate metrics, build a measurement plan, interpret an experiment and combine the decisions into one campaign plan.

Why this program

Digital marketing is not a list of tools. Interfaces and algorithms change, while the decisions about whom to serve, what value to communicate, which channel to use and what evidence to trust remain central. The program therefore teaches decision logic first and connects it to current tools only where useful.

Career relevance

It suits people entering digital marketing and professionals working near it in content, sales, product or business roles who want a structured foundation for participating in campaigns and reading plans and reports more critically.

What you will learn

  • Translate business goals into measurable digital-marketing objectives.
  • Analyze audiences and build suitable value propositions, positioning and messages.
  • Plan content, SEO and owned digital presence.
  • Choose paid channels and calculate core performance, cost and return metrics.
  • Build a measurement plan, interpret attribution and design a simple A/B test.
  • Integrate privacy, transparency and accessibility into responsible campaign planning.
Learning outcomes (10)

  2. Define actionable audience segments and connect their needs to a suitable value proposition, positioning, messaging and customer journey.
  3. Plan a content system that connects audience intent with themes, formats and touchpoints across owned, earned and paid channels.
  4. Apply foundational SEO, landing-page, email and lifecycle-messaging principles to improve discovery and conversion without spam or deceptive practices.
  5. Select paid channels and draft an initial media and creative plan based on objectives, audience and context rather than platform fashion.
  6. Calculate and interpret core metrics such as CTR, CVR, CPC, CPM, CPA/CAC and ROAS, including what those metrics cannot establish on their own.
  7. Build a measurement plan covering events, conversions, campaign naming, UTM tagging and data-quality checks.
  8. Compare attribution interpretations and design a simple controlled experiment while distinguishing association, causality and incrementality.
  9. Apply privacy, transparency, accessibility and responsible-marketing safeguards when designing digital campaigns and collecting or using data.
  10. Build and defend an integrated digital campaign plan, connect it to measurement and optimization, and avoid guaranteed-results or guaranteed-growth claims.

Strengths

  • Separates relatively durable strategy from changing platform settings.
  • Connects audience, value, content, channels, funnel and measurement into one decision chain.
  • Includes attribution and experimentation so dashboards are not mistaken for causal proof.
  • Treats privacy, transparency and accessibility as part of good practice rather than an afterthought.

Evidence basis

The blueprint uses primary and professional sources including AMA, Google Search, Google Analytics, Google Ads, ICC, NIST and W3C, with OpenStax for STP explanation and Microsoft Research for experimentation. Time-sensitive product facts are dated and kept within scope.

How the route works

Short Diplomas are relatively comprehensive learning pathways that cover a major subject through five connected learning subjects and structured assessments, with a diploma transcript available with the credential.

Self-paced sequential study. Content unlocks progressively and each subject combines reading, examples, exercises, knowledge checks, and assessment.

  • Build integrated knowledge in a major subject.
  • Study through five clear, connected learning subjects.
  • Complete a defined assessment for each subject.
  • Receive a diploma transcript showing subjects and results when the credential is issued.

Assessment

Each Short Diploma contains five subjects, each with an approved assessment. A sixth final exam is not required when the five assessments adequately cover the learning outcomes.

Assessment attempts: 2 per assessment, 7 days apart

Program questions

Do I need previous digital-marketing experience?

No advanced experience is required. General business and web familiarity is enough; important terms are introduced when they first matter.

Does the program focus on one advertising platform?

No. It teaches channel-selection and measurement logic first. Platform examples are used only when useful and changing features are dated.

Does it cover SEO and paid advertising?

Yes, at a foundational applied level: helpful discoverable content, paid-search principles, social/display/video advertising and media planning.

Will I learn measurement and Google Analytics?

You will learn measurement planning, traffic sources, campaign tags, conversions and attribution principles without relying on memorizing a changing interface.

Does following the plan guarantee sales or follower growth?

No. The program teaches hypothesis setting, measurement, experimentation and optimization, but it does not promise a guaranteed market result.

How does the program address privacy?

It covers data minimization, transparency, consent where required and privacy-risk management, while noting that legal obligations vary by jurisdiction.

How is learning assessed?

Each lesson has a small knowledge check, followed by one independent summative assessment per subject. The central learner passing threshold remains unresolved during authoring and is not invented here.
